Supervision
Biography
I am an approved supervisor for LMFT-A and LPC-A. My counseling supervision approach integrates interpersonal theory, the Discrimination Model, liberation psychology, and andragogy within an intentionally egalitarian supervisory relationship. While recognizing my ethical and professional responsibilities as a supervisor, I seek to minimize unnecessary hierarchy and approach supervisees as respected colleagues and adult learners who bring valuable knowledge, lived experience, and perspectives to the relationship. Supervision is collaborative rather than authoritarian, emphasizing shared dialogue, curiosity, critical reflection, and mutual learning. The Discrimination Model provides developmental structure, while interpersonal theory attends to relational dynamics and the supervisory alliance. Liberation psychology invites examination of power, privilege, oppression, and systemic influences—including power within the supervisory relationship itself. Andragogy supports supervisee autonomy, self-direction, and experiential learning. Together, these approaches create a relational, developmental, socially conscious, and egalitarian supervision environment that promotes both clinical competence and an authentic professional identity.
